Our Story
Steps from the Vatican Guesthouse is more than just a place to stay—it’s a family story that began over 30 years ago.
In the early 1990s, my mother opened the doors of our family home to travelers from all over the world (at that time it was a B&B not a Guesthouse). With warmth, attention to detail, and a deep love for Rome (she was one of the top Tour Guides in Rome, serving the likes of Heads of States, diplomats and celebrities), she created a welcoming space just steps from St. Peter’s Square. Over the years, guests returned not only for the ideal location and charming atmosphere, but for the genuine hospitality that made them feel at home.
In the late 2010s, I decided to take the baton and continue this tradition. I updated the space with a few modern comforts while preserving the soul and character that made it special. Just as we were building momentum, the global pandemic forced us to pause our activity for a long time.
After a period of closure, Steps from the Vatican Guesthouse officially reopened in January 2025—refreshed and ready to welcome guests once again.
We continue to operate as a small, family-run guesthouse, not a hotel. That means we take pride in offering personal attention, helpful advice, and a peaceful atmosphere that reflects the spirit of our neighborhood and home.

Even though the street number is 19, the apartment is actually the first building of a very ancient road which runs alongside the Aurelian walls, and leads up to the Gianicolo hill from which you can see a spectacular panorama of Rome.
From the entrance you have a breathtaking view of St. Peter’s dome, and from your room can actually see the Pope’s window and hear his voice during the Apostolic Blessing!
