Directions from Fiumicino Airport to Steps from the Vatican Guesthouse
IMPORTANT: public transportation in Rome is often subject to last minute changes in schedules, routes or other aspects. We recommend checking beforehand that all services will be operational in the day you arrive. Google maps is one possible way to check.
Option 1 (recommended!) Public Transportation (Train + Train)
- At Fiumicino Airport, take train “REG 20643 Fara Sabina” to “Roma Trastevere” (leaves every 30 min.) trip takes approx. 27 min 7 stops.
- At “Roma Trastevere” train station transfer to train “REG 21364 Cesano di Roma” to “Roma S. Pietro” (leaves every 30 min.) trip takes approx. 6 min 2 stops.
- From “Roma S. Pietro” train station, Walk 600 mt approx. 8 min to the Guesthouse
- This option is excellent to avoid traffic jams which are very frequent in Rome!

Option 2: Public Transportation (Train + Bus 64)
- At Fiumicino Airport, follow signs to the Leonardo Express train.
- Buy a ticket (€14) and take the Leonardo Express to Roma Termini (about 32 minutes, no stops). Trains depart every 15 minutes.
- At Roma Termini, follow signs to the 64 bus stop (Piazza dei Cinquecento).

- Buy a bus ticket (€1.50, valid for 100 minutes) and board bus 64, direction Piazza Stazione San Pietro.
- Stay on the bus for approximately 15-20 minutes, depending on traffic.
- Get off at the Cavalleggeri/S. Pietro stop. Watch this video:


Additional Tips:
- Tickets: Bus tickets can be bought at kiosks (Tabacchi shops) or ATAC vending machines.
- Luggage: Be mindful of your belongings, as Bus 64 is often used by tourists and can be crowded.
- Travel Time: The total journey takes around 1 hour and 15 minutes, depending on traffic.
This option gets you as close as possible to the Guesthouse so you don’t have to walk much! 🚏🚍
